Welcome to coursematter
coursematter is an online learning platform that helps institutions, coaching centres, and individual educators create courses, enrol students, and run their teaching business in one place — while learners get a simple way to discover courses, study, and earn certificates.
This documentation is written for everyone who uses the platform — whether you run an institution, teach as an instructor, support a team as staff, or are a learner taking a course. It explains what each feature does and how to use it, in plain language. No technical knowledge required.

Who it's for #
The platform supports a few different kinds of people. You may be more than one at the same time.
| Role | Who they are | What they mainly do |
|---|---|---|
| Institution | A coaching centre, academy, or organisation (the "master" account). | Set up the institution, add staff and branches, register and manage learners. |
| Instructor | An educator — either independent or the head of an institution. | Create and publish courses, manage learners, get paid. |
| Staff | A co-instructor or team member added by an institution. | Build and run the courses assigned to them. |
| Learner | A student taking courses on the platform. | Browse, enrol, study, and earn certificates. |
Key concepts #
A few terms appear throughout these docs. Here's what they mean.
- Master account — the main institution or instructor account that owns everything: courses, staff, learners, and settings.
- Staff (co-instructor) — a team member added under an institution who works on the courses assigned to them.
- Branch — a physical location of your institution. You always have one head office and can add regional branches.
- Learner — a student linked to your institution, usually after they register through your self-registration link.
- Partner — an institution that has been approved to offer courses sponsored by coursematter to its learners.
- Public profile — a shareable web page for an instructor or institution that anyone can view.
- Badges — visual achievements (such as Institution, Partner, Educator) shown on profiles as you reach milestones.
- Program & cohort — a program is a higher-level offering built from cohorts (stages/sections) instead of video chapters.
- Resource — an interactive activity (quiz, coding exercise, assignment, poll, or embedded video) you build in the Resources area and attach to a course or cohort.
